Foolish Woman Award
Last night, in the advice column, was a 45 yr. old woman, who according to her own words, was married to a wonderful man for 23 years. Her trouble was that she had met a man through her husband's business 16 years ago with whom she is smitten. She met him for lunch a few times (first mistake) and has contacted him by email for the past couple of years (mistake number 2). She is sure he has feelings for her, and is wondering if she should let him know that she thinks they are soulmates. How ridiculous! How selfish! How immature!
Fortunately, the columnist recognized the error of her ways and told her, "put your adult brain in gear and consider the consequences."
Perhaps a good assignment for her would have been to read a chapter of Proverbs every day. There are 31 of them, so they correspond nicely to the number of days in a month. The Proverbs have much to say about the foolish, the wicked and the wise. Come to think of it, it is not a bad assignment for any of us.
